Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This definitive tourism set of 12 stamps was issued by the Emirate of Transjordan under British Mandate administration on February 1, 1933. The stamps depict significant locations including the Umayyad palace complex at Mshatta, the Roman ruins of Jerash with its impressive temples and columns, the early Islamic desert castle of Qasr Kharana, the Crusader fortress of Kerak Castle, the medieval Arab castle of Ajlun, and the remarkable rock-carved facade of Petra's Treasury. Additional subjects include the Allenby Bridge spanning the Jordan River and pastoral scenes of cattle grazing. Each stamp features ornate decorative borders incorporating Islamic geometric patterns and Arabic calligraphy, with the central vignettes printed in black against colored frames. The denominations range from 1 mil to 200 mils, serving both postal needs and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
