Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of four stamps honors Mustafa Wahbi Al-Tal (1899-1949), known by his pen name 'Arar', one of Jordan's most celebrated poets and a prominent figure in modern Arabic literature. Born in Irbid, Arar was renowned for his patriotic poetry, social commentary, and contributions to Jordanian cultural identity. The stamps showcase different views of Arar House, now preserved as a cultural center and museum dedicated to the poet's legacy. Each stamp features a portrait of the poet alongside photographs of various aspects of the historic stone house - the entrance with its distinctive arched doorway and cultural center signage, interior courtyard spaces with traditional architecture, the garden area with mature trees, and architectural details including ancient stone work. The house serves as both a monument to Arar's literary contributions and a cultural venue celebrating Jordanian heritage. Jordan Post issued this set in 2021 to commemorate the poet's enduring influence on Jordanian literature and to highlight the preservation of important cultural sites that maintain connection to the nation's intellectual and artistic heritage.
