This commemorative stamp set was issued by the Government of Jordan on April 1, 1952, to celebrate the unification of Jordan and Arab Palestine. The set comprises nine stamps ranging from 1 fils to 200 fils, each bearing the date April 24, 1950 in Arabic, marking the formal unification of the East and West Banks under Jordanian sovereignty. Each stamp features an identical central design showing a map of unified Jordan connecting two iconic architectural landmarks: the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem at the top, representing the newly annexed West Bank territories including East Jerusalem, and the Treasury (Al-Khazneh) of Petra at the bottom, symbolizing the original Jordanian territory. The decorative borders feature traditional Islamic geometric patterns, while the text includes both Arabic and English inscriptions identifying "The Hashemite Kingdom of the Jordan" and "Commemorating the Unity of Jordan." This philatelic issue served as an official announcement and celebration of Jordan's territorial expansion, representing King Abdullah I's successful annexation of the Palestinian territories west of the Jordan River following the 1948 Nakba. The design symbolically bridges the ancient Nabataean heritage of Jordan with the Islamic significance of Jerusalem, emphasizing the historical and religious continuity of the unified kingdom.
