This definitive stamp set issued by the Government of Jordan in 1952 features King Abdullah I ibn Hussein, the founder and first ruler of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The eight stamps present a formal portrait of the King wearing traditional Hashemite headwear within an ornate decorative frame. Each denomination displays the same dignified portrait design but in different colors, ranging from 5 fils to 100 fils. The stamps bear both Arabic and English text identifying "The Hashemite Kingdom of the Jordan" and include Arabic calligraphy at the top. King Abdullah I, who ruled from 1921 until his assassination in 1951, was instrumental in establishing Jordan's independence and modernizing the country. This posthumous issue honors his legacy and served the practical postal needs of the young kingdom during a period of transition following his death. The formal portrait design reflects the dignity and authority of the Hashemite monarchy while the bilingual text emphasizes Jordan's position bridging Arab and international communities.
