This airmail set of eight stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan on October 19, 1954, to showcase the magnificent Temple of Artemis at Jerash, one of Jordan's most important archaeological treasures. The stamps feature a striking design depicting the ancient Roman temple ruins with an airplane flying overhead, symbolizing both Jordan's rich historical heritage and its modern aviation connections. Jerash, known in antiquity as Gerasa, was one of the Decapolis cities and contains some of the best-preserved Roman provincial architecture in the world. The Temple of Artemis, built in the 2nd century AD and dedicated to the goddess of the hunt, stands as a testament to the grandeur of Roman civilization in Jordan. Each stamp in the set displays the same central design in different color combinations, with denominations ranging from 5 fils to 150 fils. The decorative Arabic border frames and bilingual country identification emphasize Jordan's cultural identity while celebrating this UNESCO-worthy archaeological site. أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة من ثمانية طوابع بريد جوي في 19 أكتوبر 1954 لتسليط الضوء على معبد أرتميس الرائع في جرش، أحد أهم الكنوز الأثرية في الأردن. تتميز الطوابع بتصميم جذاب يصور أطلال المعبد الروماني القديم مع طائرة تحلق فوقه، مما يرمز إلى التراث التاريخي الغني للأردن وصلاته الجوية الحديثة. كانت جرش، المعروفة في العصور القديمة باسم جراسا، إحدى مدن الديكابوليس وتحتوي على بعض أفضل العمارة الرومانية المحفوظة في العالم. يقف معبد أرتميس، الذي بُني في القرن الثاني الميلادي وكُرّس لإلهة الصيد، شاهداً على عظمة الحضارة الرومانية في الأردن. يعرض كل طابع في المجموعة نفس التصميم المركزي بتركيبات ألوان مختلفة، بفئات تتراوح من 5 فلوس إلى 150 فلساً. تؤكد الإطارات العربية الزخرفية والهوية الوطنية ثنائية اللغة على الهوية الثقافية الأردنية.
