Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of eight stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan in 1952 to mark the accession of King Talal bin Abdullah to the throne following the abdication of his father, King Abdullah I. King Talal's reign was brief but significant in Jordan's constitutional development, lasting only from 1951 to 1952 before his own abdication due to health concerns. The stamps feature a formal portrait of King Talal wearing traditional Arab headdress within an ornate oval frame, surrounded by decorative Islamic geometric patterns and Arabic calligraphy. The design incorporates the commemoration text in both Arabic and English, reading 'Commemoration of Ascension Postage 6 September 1951' and 'The Hashemite Kingdom of the Jordan.' Notably, three of the lowest denominations (1, 2, and 3 fils) from this series were never officially released, with most copies being destroyed by fire, making surviving examples extremely rare. The set also includes eight variant records featuring imperforate versions of the same designs. This issue represents an important transitional period in Jordanian postal history, documenting the brief but constitutionally significant reign of King Talal.

هذه المجموعة التذكارية المكونة من ثمانية طوابع أصدرتها الحكومة الأردنية عام 1952 للاحتفال باعتلاء الملك طلال بن عبد الله العرش خلفاً لوالده الملك عبد الله الأول. كان حكم الملك طلال قصيراً لكنه مهم في التطور الدستوري للأردن، حيث استمر من 1951 إلى 1952 قبل تنازله عن العرش لأسباب صحية. تعرض الطوابع صورة رسمية للملك طلال وهو يرتدي الكوفية العربية التقليدية ضمن إطار بيضاوي مزخرف، محاطة بزخارف إسلامية هندسية وخط عربي. يتضمن التصميم نص الاحتفال بالعربية والإنجليزية. من الجدير بالذكر أن ثلاث فئات من أقل القيم (1 و2 و3 فلس) من هذه السلسلة لم تصدر رسمياً، وتم إتلاف معظم النسخ بالحريق، مما يجعل النماذج الباقية نادرة جداً. تضم المجموعة أيضاً ثمانية سجلات متنوعة تتضمن نسخاً غير مثقبة من نفس التصاميم.
