Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set was issued by the Government of Jordan in April 1955 to celebrate the royal wedding of King Hussein and Queen Dina Abdul Hamid, which took place on April 10, 1955. The marriage marked an important milestone in the young king's personal life and the Hashemite dynasty. King Hussein, who had ascended to the throne in 1953 at age 17, married Queen Dina, an Egyptian-born member of the Hashemite family and a graduate of Cambridge University. The set consists of 2 stamps featuring formal portraits of the royal couple facing each other within an oval frame, topped by the Jordanian crown. Both stamps display the date '10 April 1955' in English and Arabic. The 15 fils stamp appears in blue, while the 100 fils denomination is printed in brown lake. Each design is enhanced with decorative wheat sheaf motifs on the sides, symbolizing prosperity and abundance. The set also includes imperforate varieties of both denominations. This issue represents one of the early commemorative releases of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, documenting a significant royal occasion during the formative years of King Hussein's long reign.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية في نيسان 1955 للاحتفال بالزفاف الملكي للملك حسين والملكة دينا عبد الحميد الذي أقيم في 10 نيسان 1955. مثل هذا الزواج معلماً مهماً في الحياة الشخصية للملك الشاب والأسرة الهاشمية. تزوج الملك حسين الذي اعتلى العرش عام 1953 وعمره 17 عاماً من الملكة دينا المولودة في مصر وعضو الأسرة الهاشمية وخريجة جامعة كامبريدج. تتكون المجموعة من طابعين يحملان صوراً رسمية للزوجين الملكيين متقابلين داخل إطار بيضوي يعلوه التاج الأردني. يحمل كلا الطابعين تاريخ '10 نيسان 1955' بالإنجليزية والعربية. يظهر طابع الـ15 فلساً باللون الأزرق بينما طبع طابع الـ100 فلس باللون البني المحمر. زُيّن كل تصميم بزخارف سنابل القمح على الجانبين ترمز للازدهار والخير الوفير. تشمل المجموعة أيضاً نسخاً غير مثقوبة من كلا الفئتين.
