This postage due set of six stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan on August 13, 1952, during the early years of the Hashemite Kingdom under King Talal's reign. Postage due stamps served an essential postal function, applied to mail when insufficient postage had been paid by the sender, requiring the recipient to pay the additional amount. The stamps feature an elegant Arabic calligraphic design within ornate decorative borders, prominently displaying both Arabic text and the English inscription 'POSTAGE DUE' along with 'THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF THE JORDAN.' The Arabic calligraphy at the top represents the formal name of the kingdom, while additional Arabic script appears in the central medallion. Each denomination is clearly marked in both Arabic numerals and English, ranging from 1 fils to 50 fils. The set reflects the postal administrative needs of the newly established kingdom while showcasing traditional Islamic decorative arts through its sophisticated border patterns and calligraphic elements.
