Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

In 2013, Jordan Post issued this commemorative set marking the 80th anniversary of the first Petra stamp from 1933. The set consists of two souvenir sheets, each featuring reproductions of historic Transjordan postage stamps alongside a map of Jordan and imagery of Petra's iconic Treasury. The original 1933 stamps were part of the first pictorial definitives issued during the British Mandate period under Emir Abdullah I, representing an early philatelic celebration of Jordan's most famous archaeological site. Each souvenir sheet displays a vintage stamp design - one showing a 15 mils blue Treasury stamp and another featuring a 500 mils multicolored Treasury stamp, both bearing the original 'Transjordan Postage' inscription. The background incorporates warm desert tones with photographic elements of Petra's sandstone architecture, while a detailed map highlights Jordan's major cities and archaeological sites. This philatelic tribute honors both Jordan's postal heritage and its UNESCO World Heritage site, demonstrating how Petra has remained a central symbol of Jordanian identity from the Mandate era through the modern Hashemite Kingdom.

أصدر البريد الأردني في عام 2013 هذه المجموعة التذكارية احتفالاً بالذكرى الثمانين لإصدار أول طابع للبتراء عام 1933. تتكون المجموعة من بطاقتين تذكاريتين، تعرض كل منهما نسخاً من طوابع شرق الأردن التاريخية إلى جانب خريطة للأردن وصور لخزنة البتراء الأيقونية. كانت طوابع 1933 الأصلية جزءاً من أول الطوابع المصورة الدائمة التي صدرت خلال فترة الانتداب البريطاني في عهد الأمير عبد الله الأول، وتمثل احتفالاً بريدياً مبكراً بأشهر موقع أثري في الأردن. تعرض كل بطاقة تذكارية تصميماً لطابع قديم - أحدهما يظهر طابع الخزنة الأزرق فئة 15 ملساً والآخر يعرض طابع الخزنة متعدد الألوان فئة 500 ملس، وكلاهما يحمل النقش الأصلي 'Transjordan Postage'. تتضمن الخلفية ألواناً صحراوية دافئة مع عناصر فوتوغرافية لعمارة البتراء الحجرية، بينما تبرز خريطة مفصلة المدن الأردنية الرئيسية والمواقع الأثرية.
