Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

Jordan Post issued this commemorative set in 2011 to showcase the remarkable coral reef ecosystems of the Red Sea off Jordan's Aqaba coast. The Gulf of Aqaba represents Jordan's only marine frontier, hosting some of the world's most pristine and biodiverse coral reefs despite the country's limited 27-kilometer coastline. These reefs serve as critical marine sanctuaries, supporting hundreds of fish species and intricate coral formations that have adapted to the Red Sea's unique conditions. The five stamps feature underwater photography displaying various coral species, from distinctive brain corals with their characteristic maze-like patterns to branching hard corals and colorful soft corals.
