This overprinted stamp set from 2017 features Hadrian's Triumphal Arch in Jerash, one of Jordan's most significant Roman archaeological sites. Originally issued in 2003 as part of a regular definitives series depicting the ancient gate structure, these stamps were subsequently overprinted with new values ranging from 10 to 60 piastres, all surcharged on the original 50 fils denomination. The overprinting reflects Jordan Post's practice of revaluing existing stamp designs to meet changing postal rates and currency requirements. Hadrian's Arch, built around 129 CE to honor Emperor Hadrian's visit to Gerasa (ancient Jerash), stands as a monumental gateway to the ancient Greco-Roman city. The arch represents the grandeur of Roman architecture in Jordan and serves as an iconic symbol of the country's rich archaeological heritage. Each stamp in this ten-value set displays the same brown-toned illustration of the imposing stone archway against a golden background, with Arabic and English inscriptions identifying the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. تتميز هذه المجموعة الموشحة من عام 2017 بقوس النصر لهادريان في جرش، أحد أهم المواقع الأثرية الرومانية في الأردن. صدرت هذه الطوابع أصلاً في عام 2003 كجزء من سلسلة طوابع اعتيادية تصور بنية البوابة القديمة، ثم أضيف إليها توشيح لاحقاً بقيم جديدة تتراوح من 10 إلى 60 قرشاً، جميعها محملة على الفئة الأصلية 50 فلساً. يعكس التوشيح ممارسة البريد الأردني في إعادة تقييم تصاميم الطوابع الموجودة لتلبية التغييرات في أسعار البريد ومتطلبات العملة. بُني قوس هادريان حوالي عام 129 م لتكريم زيارة الإمبراطور هادريان لجراسا (جرش القديمة)، ويقف كبوابة ضخمة للمدينة اليونانية الرومانية القديمة. يمثل القوس عظمة العمارة الرومانية في الأردن ويعتبر رمزاً مميزاً للتراث الأثري الغني في البلاد. يعرض كل طابع في هذه المجموعة ذات الفئات العشر نفس الرسم التوضيحي بالنبرة البنية للممر الحجري المهيب على خلفية ذهبية.
