Jordan Post issued this six-stamp set in 2017 to showcase birds native to Jordan, highlighting the country's rich avian biodiversity. The set features common and notable species found throughout Jordan's varied habitats, from urban areas to mountainous regions. Each 30-piastre stamp depicts a different bird species with both English and Arabic names printed on the design. The birds featured include the Rock Dove (Carrier Pigeon), which has historical significance for communication; the colorful Goldfinch with its distinctive yellow wing markings; the Long-legged Buzzard (Buteo Rufinus), a raptor species; the Blackbird with its characteristic orange beak; the Chukar Partridge, locally known as Shunnarbird; and the Rose Finch with its pink-tinged plumage. A souvenir sheet combines all six designs in a decorative forest setting. This philatelic issue reflects Jordan's commitment to environmental awareness and celebrates the natural heritage that makes the kingdom an important stopover point for migratory birds along the African-Eurasian flyway.
