Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

Jordan Post issued this environmental awareness set in 2012 to highlight the urgent need to preserve polar regions and glaciers facing threats from climate change. The set comprises 2 stamps and 1 souvenir sheet depicting iconic polar wildlife - penguins and polar bears - in their natural Arctic and Antarctic habitats. The 80 piastres stamp features two Gentoo penguins standing on snow and ice, while the 1 dinar stamp shows a polar bear perched on a floating ice chunk in blue waters. Both stamps display a distinctive snowflake emblem symbolizing the fragile polar environment. The souvenir sheet combines both designs against a polar coordinate background. This issue reflects Jordan's participation in global environmental conservation efforts, despite being a Middle Eastern nation far from polar regions. The stamps serve to educate the public about the vulnerability of these remote ecosystems and the importance of international cooperation in addressing climate change impacts on polar wildlife and glacial systems worldwide.

أصدر البريد الأردني هذه المجموعة التوعوية البيئية في عام 2012 لتسليط الضوء على الحاجة الملحة لحماية المناطق القطبية والأنهار الجليدية المهددة بتغير المناخ. تتألف المجموعة من طابعين وبطاقة تذكارية تصور الحياة البرية القطبية الأيقونية - طيور البطريق والدببة القطبية - في موائلها الطبيعية في القطب الشمالي والجنوبي. يعرض طابع الـ80 قرشاً طائري بطريق جنتو يقفان على الثلج والجليد، بينما يُظهر طابع الدينار الواحد دباً قطبياً جالساً على قطعة جليد عائمة في المياه الزرقاء. يحمل كلا الطابعين شعار ندفة الثلج المميز الذي يرمز للبيئة القطبية الهشة. تعكس هذه الإصدارات مشاركة الأردن في جهود الحفاظ على البيئة العالمية رغم كونه دولة شرق أوسطية بعيدة عن المناطق القطبية.
