Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This tourism-themed set of seven stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan on March 1, 1975, showcasing the kingdom's most significant archaeological and natural attractions. The stamps feature iconic sites that define Jordan's cultural heritage and tourism appeal: the magnificent Treasury at Petra, the Umayyad Palace in Amman, Jerusalem's Dome of the Rock, the ancient Forum columns of Jerash, palm trees representing Aqaba's coastal beauty, the Obelisk Tomb at Petra, and the dramatic Fort of Wadi Rum. Each stamp presents detailed multicolored imagery framed by decorative Arabic geometric borders in complementary colors. The set demonstrates Jordan's rich historical legacy spanning from Nabataean architectural marvels to Islamic monuments, Roman ruins, and desert fortifications. This issue served to promote Jordan's emerging tourism industry during the 1970s, highlighting the diverse attractions that would establish the kingdom as a premier Middle Eastern destination. The stamps vary in perforation between 14 x 13.5 and 13.5 x 14, with denominations ranging from 15 to 80 fils. An additional 100 fils variant featuring the Fort of Jebel Rum represents an unadopted design, making this a comprehensive philatelic celebration of Jordan's archaeological and natural wonders.
