This set of traditional Jordanian women's costumes was issued by the Government of Jordan on February 1, 1975, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and diverse regional dress traditions of Jordan. The five stamps showcase women wearing distinctive traditional garments from different regions of the Hashemite Kingdom, featuring elaborate embroidered dresses, ornate headwear, and colorful accessories that reflect centuries-old cultural traditions. Each stamp displays a woman in full traditional attire against vibrant colored backgrounds, highlighting the intricate details of the embroidery, jewelry, and distinctive head coverings that characterize different tribal and regional styles. The costumes represent various forms of the traditional thob (dress) with characteristic Palestinian and Jordanian embroidery patterns, complemented by traditional accessories and head coverings. This philatelic tribute preserves and honors Jordan's textile heritage and the skilled craftsmanship of traditional dressmaking. The set includes variant imperforate records, and notably, five additional denominations (30, 35, 40, 50, and 60 fils) were prepared but never officially released, making the issued stamps particularly significant for collectors documenting Jordan's cultural postal history.
