Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of four stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan on March 1, 1973, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The anniversary celebrated five decades since the establishment of the Emirate of Transjordan in 1921 under Emir Abdullah I, which later evolved into the independent Hashemite Kingdom. The stamps showcase key symbols of Jordanian national identity and sovereignty. The 5 fils stamp features a white dove of peace carrying an olive branch alongside the Jordanian flag, symbolizing the kingdom's commitment to peace and stability. The 10 fils displays a special anniversary emblem incorporating the flame of liberty surrounded by a laurel wreath. The 15 fils stamp honors King Hussein, who had ruled Jordan for over two decades by 1973 and led the kingdom through numerous regional challenges. The highest denomination, 30 fils, presents a stylized map of Jordan with national emblems including wheat stalks representing agriculture and the eternal flame symbolizing progress. Each stamp bears both Arabic and English inscriptions identifying the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, reflecting the bilingual nature of official Jordanian communications during this period.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية المكونة من أربعة طوابع في الأول من آذار 1973 بمناسبة الذكرى الخمسين لتأسيس المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية. احتفلت هذه الذكرى بمرور خمسة عقود على تأسيس إمارة شرق الأردن عام 1921 تحت قيادة الأمير عبد الله الأول، والتي تطورت لاحقاً إلى المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية المستقلة. تعرض الطوابع رموزاً أساسية للهوية الوطنية الأردنية والسيادة. يحمل طابع الخمسة فلوس حمامة بيضاء للسلام تحمل غصن زيتون إلى جانب العلم الأردني، رمزاً لالتزام المملكة بالسلام والاستقرار. يعرض طابع العشرة فلوس شعاراً خاصاً بالذكرى يتضمن شعلة الحرية محاطة بإكليل من الغار. يكرم طابع الخمسة عشر فلساً الملك حسين الذي حكم الأردن لأكثر من عقدين بحلول عام 1973. تعرض الفئة العليا ثلاثين فلساً خريطة مُنمقة للأردن مع الرموز الوطنية.
