تحتفل هذه المجموعة التذكارية بالذكرى الخمسين لاستقلال الأردن، مما يمثل خمسة عقود منذ حصول المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية على السيادة الكاملة عام 1946. أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية من خلال وزارة البريد والاتصالات هذه الطوابع الثلاثة والبطاقة التذكارية لتكريم هذا المعلم التاريخي برموز وطنية قوية. تتضمن التصاميم عناصر رمزية منها شعار الذكرى السنوية يحمل الرقم 50، وخريطة الأردن، وصور بارزة للملك حسين الذي قاد الأمة لمعظم هذه الفترة. تؤرخ المجموعة بصرياً رحلة الأردن من الاستقلال إلى الدولة الحديثة، مع طابع يصور أيضاً الملك المؤسس عبد الله الأول إلى جانب الحاكم الحالي الملك حسين. تؤكد صورة الزي العسكري على قوة الأردن واستقراره تحت القيادة الهاشمية.
