Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of five stamps and one souvenir sheet was issued by the Government of Jordan on November 14, 1985, to celebrate the 50th birthday of King Hussein bin Talal, who ruled Jordan from 1952 to 1999. King Hussein was born on November 14, 1935, making this milestone birthday particularly significant during his long reign. The stamps showcase different aspects of the King's life and roles, depicting him as a compassionate leader comforting citizens, in traditional Arab dress reflecting his cultural heritage, as a skilled pilot demonstrating his aviation expertise, in military uniform highlighting his role as commander-in-chief, and in formal Arab headdress. Each stamp features symbolic emblems within teardrop-shaped designs alongside small Jordanian flags. The souvenir sheet presents King Hussein in military uniform with various flags and an image of the Dome of the Rock, emphasizing Jordan's connection to Jerusalem and the broader Arab world. This issue reflects the deep respect and admiration held for King Hussein, who was widely regarded as a moderate leader and peace advocate in the Middle East throughout his nearly five-decade reign.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية المؤلفة من خمسة طوابع وبطاقة تذكارية واحدة في الرابع عشر من تشرين الثاني عام ١٩٨٥ احتفالاً بالذكرى الخمسين لميلاد الملك الحسين بن طلال الذي حكم الأردن من عام ١٩٥٢ إلى عام ١٩٩٩. وُلد الملك الحسين في الرابع عشر من تشرين الثاني عام ١٩٣٥، مما جعل هذا العيد مهماً بشكل خاص خلال فترة حكمه الطويلة. تعرض الطوابع جوانب مختلفة من حياة الملك وأدواره، حيث تصوره كقائد رحيم يواسي المواطنين، وبالزي العربي التقليدي الذي يعكس تراثه الثقافي، وكطيار ماهر يظهر خبرته في الطيران، وبالزي العسكري الذي يبرز دوره كقائد أعلى للقوات المسلحة، وبالعقال العربي الرسمي. يحمل كل طابع رموزاً تراثية ضمن تصاميم على شكل دمعة إلى جانب أعلام أردنية صغيرة. تقدم البطاقة التذكارية الملك الحسين بالزي العسكري مع أعلام متنوعة وصورة قبة الصخرة.
