This commemorative set issued by the Government of Jordan on March 25, 1964, honors the pioneering American astronauts of the early Space Age. The set comprises 10 triangular stamps and 3 souvenir sheets celebrating the Mercury program astronauts who first carried America into space. The stamps feature portraits of the Mercury Seven astronauts - Alan Shepard, Virgil Grissom, John Glenn, Scott Carpenter, Walter Schirra, and others - alongside rockets, satellites, and space technology imagery. Each astronaut is depicted in their distinctive space suit against colorful backgrounds. The set also includes images of launch vehicles and spacecraft that made these historic missions possible. Two large souvenir sheets provide comprehensive overviews of the Mercury program, showing Earth with orbital flight paths, tracking stations, and portraits of all the featured astronauts arranged around a central globe. One souvenir sheet specifically commemorates Gordon Cooper's May 15, 1963 mission. This issue reflects Jordan's recognition of the Space Age as a defining moment in human history and demonstrates the global fascination with America's early space achievements during the Cold War era.
تحتفل هذه المجموعة التذكارية التي أصدرتها الحكومة الأردنية في 25 مارس 1964 برواد الفضاء الأمريكيين الرواد في عصر الفضاء المبكر. تتكون المجموعة من 10 طوابع مثلثة الشكل و3 بطاقات تذكارية تحتفل برواد الفضاء في برنامج ميركوري الذين حملوا أمريكا إلى الفضاء لأول مرة. تظهر الطوابع صوراً شخصية لرواد الفضاء السبعة في ميركوري - آلان شيبارد وفيرجيل جريسوم وجون جلين وسكوت كاربنتر ووالتر شيرا وآخرين - إلى جانب صور للصواريخ والأقمار الصناعية وتقنيات الفضاء. يظهر كل رائد فضاء بزيه الفضائي المميز على خلفيات ملونة. تتضمن المجموعة أيضاً صوراً لمركبات الإطلاق والمركبات الفضائية التي جعلت هذه المهام التاريخية ممكنة. توفر البطاقتان التذكاريتان الكبيرتان نظرة شاملة على برنامج ميركوري، وتظهران الأرض مع مسارات الطيران المدارية ومحطات التتبع وصور جميع رواد الفضاء المعروضين مرتبة حول كرة أرضية مركزية.
