Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set was issued by the Government of Jordan in March 1964 to celebrate the second birthday of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Al-Hussein, who was born on January 30, 1962. The young prince, son of King Hussein, would later become King Abdullah II in 1999. The three stamps feature charming portraits of the two-year-old prince in different settings, all rendered in a warm, artistic style typical of royal commemorative issues of the era. The 5 fils stamp shows the prince as a toddler standing by a wall alongside white flowers. The 10 fils diamond-shaped stamp presents a formal portrait of the prince's head surrounded by decorative yellow and orange roses. The 35 fils stamp depicts the prince in a blue outfit, pointing toward white lilies. Each stamp bears Arabic calligraphy identifying the occasion and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The set also includes two color variety records where gold elements were omitted during printing. These stamps reflect the traditional practice of Arab monarchies issuing commemorative stamps for significant royal family occasions, particularly celebrating the heir to the throne during his early childhood years.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية في آذار 1964 احتفالاً بعيد الميلاد الثاني لولي العهد الأمير عبد الله بن الحسين، الذي وُلد في 30 كانون الثاني 1962. الأمير الصغير، نجل الملك حسين، أصبح لاحقاً الملك عبد الله الثاني عام 1999. تحمل الطوابع الثلاثة صوراً جذابة للأمير في سن السنتين في مشاهد مختلفة، مُنفذة بأسلوب فني دافئ يميز الإصدارات التذكارية الملكية في تلك الحقبة. يُظهر طابع الـ5 فلوس الأمير الصغير واقفاً بجانب جدار مع زهور بيضاء. يقدم طابع الـ10 فلوس المعيني الشكل صورة رسمية لرأس الأمير محاطة بورود صفراء وبرتقالية زخرفية. يصور طابع الـ35 فلساً الأمير مرتدياً ملابس زرقاء وهو يشير نحو زنابق بيضاء. يحمل كل طابع خطاً عربياً يحدد المناسبة والمملكة الأردنية الهاشمية. تشمل المجموعة أيضاً نوعين من الأخطاء الطباعية حيث حُذفت العناصر الذهبية.
