This definitive set of six stamps and one souvenir sheet, issued by the Government of Jordan on February 10, 1967, showcases the native and domesticated animals of Jordan and the broader Middle Eastern region. Each stamp features a different animal depicted in naturalistic settings with decorative Islamic geometric borders. The set includes the dromedary camel, essential for desert transportation and trade; Karakul sheep, valued for their distinctive wool; Angora goats, prized for their fine hair; the striped hyena, a nocturnal scavenger native to the region; the elegant Arab horse, renowned worldwide for its beauty and endurance; and the goitred gazelle, a graceful antelope species found in Jordan's desert regions. The souvenir sheet combines multiple animals from the series in an artistic arrangement. This wildlife-themed issue reflects Jordan's natural heritage and the importance of animals in the country's traditional pastoral economy.
