This commemorative stamp set was issued by the Government of Jordan on June 1, 1965, to celebrate the Arab Volleyball Championship. The set consists of three stamps and one souvenir sheet, with additional imperforate varieties. The championship represented an important sporting event that brought together Arab nations in athletic competition, reflecting the spirit of Arab unity and cooperation through sports. Each stamp features an identical design showing a dynamic volleyball player in mid-spike, captured at the moment of attacking the ball, with a trophy visible in the background symbolizing the championship. The athletic figure is rendered in a classical artistic style, emphasizing the power and grace of the sport. The stamps were issued in different denominations (15, 35, and 50 fils) and colors (light yellow olive, lake, and turquoise blue), while the souvenir sheet presents the same design in orange brown at 100 fils value. The bilingual inscriptions appear in both Arabic and English, identifying the issuing authority as 'The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.' This issue demonstrates Jordan's participation in and support for pan-Arab sporting events during the 1960s, a period when such championships helped strengthen cultural and athletic ties among Arab nations.
أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية في الأول من يونيو 1965 للاحتفال بالبطولة العربية للكرة الطائرة. تتكون المجموعة من ثلاثة طوابع وبطاقة تذكارية واحدة، مع إصدارات إضافية غير مثقبة. مثّلت البطولة حدثاً رياضياً مهماً جمع الدول العربية في منافسة رياضية، معكسة روح الوحدة والتعاون العربي من خلال الرياضة. يحمل كل طابع تصميماً متطابقاً يُظهر لاعب كرة طائرة في حركة ديناميكية أثناء الضربة الساحقة، ملتقطاً في لحظة مهاجمة الكرة، مع ظهور كأس في الخلفية يرمز للبطولة. الشخصية الرياضية مرسومة بأسلوب فني كلاسيكي يؤكد قوة ورشاقة الرياضة. أُصدرت الطوابع بفئات مختلفة (15 و35 و50 فلساً) وألوان متنوعة (أصفر زيتوني فاتح، أحمر بحيري، وأزرق فيروزي)، بينما تعرض البطاقة التذكارية نفس التصميم باللون البني البرتقالي بقيمة 100 فلس. تظهر النقوش ثنائية اللغة بالعربية والإنجليزية، محددة الجهة المُصدرة كـ'المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية.' يُظهر هذا الإصدار مشاركة الأردن ودعمه للأحداث الرياضية العربية خلال الستينيات، فترة ساعدت فيها مثل هذه البطولات على تقوية الروابط الثقافية والرياضية بين الدول العربية.
