This commemorative set of three stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan in December 1969 to celebrate the wedding of Prince Hassan bin Talal, brother of King Hussein and Crown Prince at the time. The marriage took place on November 14, 1968, to Princess Sarvath El Hassan (born Sarvath Ikramullah), a Pakistani architect who became an active member of the Jordanian royal family. The stamps showcase both traditional and formal wedding ceremonies, reflecting the cultural significance of this royal union. The 20 fils stamp depicts the couple in traditional Middle Eastern wedding attire against a decorative carpet background, emphasizing Jordan's cultural heritage. The 60 and 100 fils denominations show the couple in formal Western wedding dress, highlighting the international nature of the marriage. Prince Hassan later served as Crown Prince of Jordan for over three decades until 1999.
