This commemorative set of six stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan on October 20, 1965, to honor the historic space flights of Soviet cosmonauts Alexei Leonov and Pavel Belyaev. The set features portraits of prominent Soviet space pioneers in their distinctive space helmets, celebrating the achievements of the early space program. Each diamond-shaped stamp displays a different cosmonaut including Valery Bykovsky, Yuri Gagarin (the first human in space), Andrian Nikolayev, Pavel Popovich, Valentina Tereshkova (the first woman in space), and Gherman Titov. The stamps are overprinted to specifically commemorate Leonov and Belyaev's Voskhod 2 mission of March 18, 1965, during which Leonov performed the first spacewalk in human history. Each stamp shows the cosmonaut's portrait alongside space-related imagery and includes both Arabic and English text. The issue reflects Jordan's recognition of significant achievements in space exploration during the height of the Space Race. The set includes variant overprint positions and is complemented by four souvenir sheets, making it a comprehensive tribute to early human spaceflight accomplishments.
أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية المكونة من ستة طوابع في 20 أكتوبر 1965 لتكريم رحلات الفضاء التاريخية لرواد الفضاء السوفييت أليكسي ليونوف وبافل بيليايف. تضم المجموعة صوراً لرواد فضاء سوفييت بارزين في خوذاتهم الفضائية المميزة، احتفالاً بإنجازات برنامج الفضاء المبكر. يعرض كل طابع معيني الشكل رائد فضاء مختلف يشمل فاليري بيكوفسكي ويوري غاغارين (أول إنسان في الفضاء) وأندريان نيكولايف وبافل بوبوفيتش وفالنتينا تيريشكوفا (أول امرأة في الفضاء) وغيرمان تيتوف. الطوابع موشّحة خصيصاً لإحياء ذكرى مهمة فوسخود 2 لليونوف وبيليايف في 18 مارس 1965، حين أجرى ليونوف أول نزهة فضائية في تاريخ البشرية. يظهر كل طابع صورة رائد الفضاء إلى جانب صور متعلقة بالفضاء ويتضمن نصوصاً عربية وإنجليزية. تعكس هذه الإصدارة اعتراف الأردن بالإنجازات المهمة في استكشاف الفضاء خلال ذروة سباق الفضاء.
