Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of four stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan on October 9, 1969, featuring the iconic Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. The set represents Jordan's historical and religious connection to Jerusalem and the Islamic holy sites. Two of the stamps (5 fils and 45 fils) present a dual design showing both the Kaaba in Mecca and the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, emphasizing the connection between Islam's two holiest cities. These stamps feature radiating sunburst designs emanating from a central sun, symbolizing the spiritual light emanating from these sacred places. The 10 fils and 20 fils stamps focus exclusively on the Dome of the Rock, presenting detailed views of the golden-domed structure set against Jerusalem's historic skyline. Each stamp bears the portrait of King Hussein, reflecting Jordan's royal patronage of Islamic heritage. The Arabic inscription celebrates the significance of these holy sites in Islamic tradition. This issue was released during a period when Jordan maintained administrative responsibility for Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, making it both religiously and politically significant for the Hashemite Kingdom.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية في التاسع من أكتوبر عام 1969 هذه المجموعة التذكارية المكونة من أربعة طوابع تتميز بقبة الصخرة المشرفة في القدس. تمثل هذه المجموعة الارتباط التاريخي والديني للأردن بالقدس والأماكن المقدسة الإسلامية. يعرض طابعان (5 فلوس و45 فلوساً) تصميماً مزدوجاً يظهر الكعبة المشرفة في مكة وقبة الصخرة في القدس، مؤكداً على الصلة بين أقدس مدينتين في الإسلام. تحمل هذه الطوابع تصاميم أشعة الشمس المنبعثة من شمس مركزية، ترمز للنور الروحي المنبعث من هذه الأماكن المقدسة. يركز طابعا العشرة والعشرين فلساً حصرياً على قبة الصخرة، معرضين مناظر تفصيلية للبنية ذات القبة الذهبية على خلفية أفق القدس التاريخي. يحمل كل طابع صورة الملك الحسين، معكساً الرعاية الملكية الأردنية للتراث الإسلامي.
