This commemorative set was issued by the Government of Jordan through its Ministry of Post & Communications to celebrate the 9th Arab Sports Tournament (Al-Hussein Tournament), held from August 15-31, 1999. Named after King Hussein, this tournament represented a significant sporting event in the Arab world, featuring competitions across multiple disciplines including athletics, swimming, basketball, and other sports. The tournament was particularly notable as it included provisions for disabled athletes and featured the largest number of games since its establishment. The set comprises four stamps depicting the tournament's distinctive red mascot character alongside various sporting pictograms, emblems, and symbols. أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية من خلال وزارة البريد والاتصالات هذه المجموعة التذكارية للاحتفال بالدورة الرياضية العربية التاسعة (دورة الحسين)، التي أقيمت في الفترة من 15-31 آب 1999. سميت هذه الدورة باسم الملك الحسين، وشكلت حدثاً رياضياً مهماً في العالم العربي، حيث ضمت منافسات في عدة رياضات منها ألعاب القوى والسباحة وكرة السلة وغيرها. تميزت الدورة بشكل خاص بتضمينها برامج للرياضيين ذوي الإعاقة وعرضها أكبر عدد من الألعاب منذ تأسيسها. تضم المجموعة أربعة طوابع تصور شخصية التميمة الحمراء المميزة للدورة إلى جانب رموز رياضية متنوعة وشعارات ورموز مختلفة. تظهر التميمة في جميع التصاميم، ممثلة روح المنافسة الرياضية العربية والروح الرياضية الدولية. استضافة الأردن لهذه البطولة الإقليمية المرموقة أظهرت التزام المملكة بتعزيز الرياضة والتبادل الثقافي بين دول الجامعة العربية.
