This commemorative set was issued by the Government of Jordan through its Ministry of Post & Communications to celebrate Jordan's participation in Expo 2000 in Hannover, Germany. The world's fair provided Jordan with an opportunity to showcase its rich archaeological heritage and modern achievements to an international audience. The set consists of two stamps and one souvenir sheet featuring ancient Jordanian artifacts and royal representation. The first stamp displays an inscribed clay tablet with ancient script, demonstrating Jordan's role as a crossroads of ancient civilizations. The second stamp shows a remarkable twin-headed statuette, representing the sophisticated artistic traditions of the region's early inhabitants. The souvenir sheet combines these archaeological treasures with contemporary imagery, featuring King Abdullah II and Queen Rania alongside the modern architecture of the Expo 2000 pavilions. This philatelic issue effectively bridged Jordan's ancient past with its modern presence on the world stage, highlighting how the kingdom presented both its archaeological significance and contemporary leadership at this major international exposition.
أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية من خلال وزارة البريد والاتصالات هذه المجموعة التذكارية للاحتفال بمشاركة الأردن في معرض إكسبو 2000 في هانوفر بألمانيا. وفر المعرض العالمي للأردن فرصة لعرض تراثه الأثري الغني وإنجازاته الحديثة أمام جمهور دولي. تتكون المجموعة من طابعين وبطاقة تذكارية تضم آثارًا أردنية قديمة وتمثيلاً ملكيًا. يعرض الطابع الأول لوحة طينية منقوشة بخط قديم، مما يُظهر دور الأردن كملتقى للحضارات القديمة. يُظهر الطابع الثاني تمثالاً رائعًا ذا رأسين، يمثل التقاليد الفنية المتطورة لسكان المنطقة الأوائل. تجمع البطاقة التذكارية بين هذه الكنوز الأثرية والصور المعاصرة، حيث تضم الملك عبد الله الثاني والملكة رانيا إلى جانب العمارة الحديثة لأجنحة إكسبو 2000.
