Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of three stamps and one souvenir sheet was issued by the Government of Jordan in January 2000 to celebrate the 38th birthday of King Abdullah II, who had ascended to the throne in February 1999 following the death of his father King Hussein. The stamps showcase different aspects of the young monarch's image and role, featuring formal portraits and his connection to the Jordanian state. The 100 fils stamp presents a crowned formal portrait of the King against a pink background with decorative laurel branches, emphasizing his royal status. The 200 fils stamp displays a more contemporary design showing the King alongside Jordan's national flag and the number 38, symbolizing his age milestone. The 300 fils stamp depicts King Abdullah II in military uniform, highlighting his role as Commander-in-Chief of the Jordanian Armed Forces. This issue marked one of the earliest philatelic tributes to the new monarch, reflecting Jordan's tradition of honoring significant royal occasions through postal commemoratives. The souvenir sheet repeats the 200 fils design in an imperforated format, providing collectors with a premium version of the birthday celebration theme.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية المكونة من ثلاثة طوابع وبطاقة تذكارية واحدة في يناير 2000 للاحتفال بعيد الميلاد الثامن والثلاثين للملك عبد الله الثاني، الذي اعتلى العرش في فبراير 1999 بعد وفاة والده الملك الحسين. تعرض الطوابع جوانب مختلفة من صورة العاهل الشاب ودوره، حيث تتضمن صوراً رسمية وارتباطه بالدولة الأردنية. يقدم طابع المئة فلس صورة رسمية متوجة للملك على خلفية وردية مع أغصان الغار الزخرفية، مؤكداً على مكانته الملكية. يعرض طابع المئتي فلس تصميماً عصرياً يظهر الملك إلى جانب العلم الأردني والرقم 38، رمزاً لهذا العام المهم من عمره. يصور طابع الثلاثمئة فلس الملك عبد الله الثاني بالزي العسكري، مبرزاً دوره كقائد أعلى للقوات المسلحة الأردنية. تمثل هذه المجموعة واحدة من أولى المناسبات البريدية التي كرمت العاهل الجديد، معكسة تقليد الأردن في تكريم المناسبات الملكية المهمة من خلال الطوابع التذكارية.
