Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of two stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan in 1987 to mark the 35th anniversary of the Arab Postal Union, founded in 1952 to coordinate postal services across Arab nations. The Arab Postal Union played a crucial role in facilitating mail exchange and establishing common postal standards throughout the Arab world during the post-independence era. The stamps showcase Jordan's postal infrastructure through architectural subjects related to communications. The 80 fils stamp depicts the head post office building in Amman, featuring the characteristic modernist architecture of mid-20th century Jordan with its multi-story facade and regular window pattern. The 160 fils stamp shows the Ministry of Communications building in Amman, displaying contemporary architectural design with vertical elements and geometric patterns typical of government buildings from this period. Both stamps bear Arabic inscriptions identifying the buildings and carry the Arab Postal Union emblem, emphasizing Jordan's continued commitment to Arab postal cooperation. This issue reflects Jordan's pride in its modern postal system and its role as an active member of regional postal organizations during the 1980s.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية المكونة من طابعين عام 1987 للاحتفال بالذكرى الخامسة والثلاثين لتأسيس اتحاد البريد العربي الذي تأسس عام 1952 لتنسيق الخدمات البريدية عبر الدول العربية. لعب اتحاد البريد العربي دوراً محورياً في تسهيل تبادل البريد ووضع معايير بريدية موحدة في العالم العربي خلال حقبة ما بعد الاستقلال. يعرض الطابعان البنية التحتية البريدية الأردنية من خلال موضوعات معمارية متعلقة بالاتصالات. يصور الطابع فئة 80 فلساً مبنى مديرية البريد الرئيسية في عمان بعمارته الحداثية المميزة لمنتصف القرن العشرين بواجهته متعددة الطوابق ونوافذه المنتظمة. يظهر الطابع فئة 160 فلساً مبنى وزارة الاتصالات في عمان بتصميمه المعماري المعاصر والعناصر العمودية والأنماط الهندسية المميزة للمباني الحكومية من تلك الفترة. يحمل كلا الطابعين نقوشاً عربية تعرّف بالمباني وشعار اتحاد البريد العربي.
