This commemorative set of three stamps, issued by the Government of Jordan on August 25, 1981, honors prominent Arab women throughout history who made significant contributions to their societies. The stamps celebrate three distinguished figures: Khawla bint Al-Azwar, a legendary Arab warrior and poet from the early Islamic period known for her courage in battle; Al-Khansa, one of the most renowned female poets of pre-Islamic and early Islamic Arabia, famous for her elegiac poetry; and Rabia al-Adawiyya, the influential 8th-century Sufi mystic and saint who played a pivotal role in developing Islamic mysticism. Each stamp features artistic depictions of these historical figures in settings that reflect their respective roles and contributions. The 25 fils stamp shows Khawla bint Al-Azwar as a mounted warrior, the 40 fils depicts Al-Khansa with writing materials representing her literary achievements, and the 50 fils portrays Rabia al-Adawiyya in contemplative pose reflecting her spiritual dedication. This issue represents Jordan's commitment to recognizing the important role of women in Arab and Islamic history.
تحتفل هذه المجموعة التذكارية المؤلفة من ثلاثة طوابع، والتي أصدرتها الحكومة الأردنية في 25 أغسطس 1981، بنساء عربيات بارزات عبر التاريخ قدمن مساهمات مهمة لمجتمعاتهن. تكرم الطوابع ثلاث شخصيات متميزة: خولة بنت الأزور، المحاربة والشاعرة العربية الأسطورية من فترة الإسلام المبكر المشهورة بشجاعتها في المعارك؛ والخنساء، إحدى أشهر الشاعرات في الجاهلية وصدر الإسلام، المعروفة برثائها؛ ورابعة العدوية، الصوفية والقديسة المؤثرة من القرن الثامن التي لعبت دوراً محورياً في تطوير التصوف الإسلامي. يحمل كل طابع تصويراً فنياً لهذه الشخصيات التاريخية في بيئات تعكس أدوارهن ومساهماتهن. يظهر طابع الـ25 فلساً خولة بنت الأزور كمحاربة على صهوة جواد، ويصور طابع الـ40 فلساً الخنساء مع أدوات الكتابة رمزاً لإنجازاتها الأدبية، ويظهر طابع الـ50 فلساً رابعة العدوية في وضعة تأمل تعكس تفانيها الروحي.
