This commemorative set of four stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan in 1989 to mark the formation of the Arab Cooperation Council, a regional organization established to promote economic and political cooperation among Arab nations. The council included Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, and Yemen, representing a significant diplomatic initiative during King Hussein's reign. Each stamp in the set features a distinctive architectural landmark from one of the member countries alongside the national flags and a portrait of King Hussein. The 10 fils stamp depicts the Treasury (Al-Khazneh) in Petra, Jordan's most iconic archaeological site. The 30 fils shows historic buildings in Sana'a, Yemen's ancient capital. The 40 fils features the famous Spiral Minaret of Samarra in Iraq, a unique 9th-century Islamic architectural monument. The 60 fils displays Egypt's pyramids, representing one of the world's most recognizable ancient monuments. The stamps are decorated with ornate geometric Islamic patterns in the corners and include Arabic text identifying the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Arab Cooperation Council. This issue reflects Jordan's active role in Arab diplomatic initiatives and regional cooperation during the late 1980s.
أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية المؤلفة من أربعة طوابع عام ١٩٨٩ بمناسبة تشكيل مجلس التعاون العربي، وهو منظمة إقليمية أُنشئت لتعزيز التعاون الاقتصادي والسياسي بين الدول العربية. ضم المجلس الأردن والعراق ومصر واليمن، مما يمثل مبادرة دبلوماسية مهمة في عهد الملك حسين. يحمل كل طابع في المجموعة معلماً معمارياً مميزاً من إحدى الدول الأعضاء إلى جانب الأعلام الوطنية وصورة الملك حسين. يصور طابع العشرة فلوس الخزنة في البتراء، أشهر المواقع الأثرية في الأردن. يعرض طابع الثلاثين فلساً المباني التاريخية في صنعاء، عاصمة اليمن القديمة. يحتوي طابع الأربعين فلساً على منارة سامراء الحلزونية في العراق، وهي أثر معماري إسلامي فريد من القرن التاسع. يعرض طابع الستين فلساً أهرامات مصر، التي تمثل واحداً من أشهر الآثار القديمة في العالم. تزين الطوابع أنماط هندسية إسلامية متقنة في الزوايا وتتضمن نصوصاً عربية تشير إلى المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية ومجلس التعاون العربي.
