Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set marks the inauguration of the King Abdullah I Mosque in Amman, named after Jordan's founding monarch who was assassinated in 1951. The mosque serves as a memorial to King Abdullah I ibn al-Hussein, honoring his role in establishing the Hashemite Kingdom and his martyrdom for the Arab cause. Each depicts portraits of both King Abdullah I (left) wearing traditional Bedouin dress and his grandson King Hussein (right) in formal royal attire, flanking a central image of the mosque itself. The mosque's distinctive blue dome and twin minarets dominate the architectural centerpiece, representing both Islamic heritage and modern Jordanian identity. The Arabic inscription below the images references the mosque's opening date according to both Hijri and Gregorian calendars. تحتفل هذه المجموعة التذكارية بافتتاح مسجد الملك عبدالله الأول في عمان، المسمى تيمناً بالملك المؤسس الذي استشهد عام 1951. يخدم المسجد كنصب تذكاري للملك عبدالله الأول بن الحسين، تكريماً لدوره في تأسيس المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية واستشهاده من أجل القضية العربية. أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة في عام 1989، وتتكون من طابعين وبطاقة تذكارية واحدة، جميعها تحمل تصميماً ثلاثي الأجزاء متسقاً. يظهر كل منها صوراً للملك عبدالله الأول (يساراً) مرتدياً الزي البدوي التقليدي وحفيده الملك حسين (يميناً) في الزي الملكي الرسمي، تتوسطهما صورة للمسجد نفسه. تهيمن القبة الزرقاء المميزة للمسجد ومئذنتاه التوأم على القطعة المعمارية المركزية، مما يمثل التراث الإسلامي والهوية الأردنية المعاصرة. تشير النقوش العربية أسفل الصور إلى تاريخ افتتاح المسجد وفقاً للتقويمين الهجري والميلادي.
