This commemorative set was issued by the Government of Jordan in July 1987 to mark the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Hittin (1187-1987), one of the most significant military victories in Islamic history. The battle, fought on July 4, 1187, saw the Muslim forces under Saladin (Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi) decisively defeat the Crusader armies, leading to the recapture of Jerusalem and most of the Holy Land. The set comprises three stamps and two souvenir sheets, all featuring vibrant depictions of this historic triumph. The stamps showcase dynamic battle scenes with charging horsemen, the iconic Dome of the Rock representing the liberation of Jerusalem, and portraits of the legendary Kurdish military leader Saladin himself. The imagery emphasizes the religious significance of the victory, with the golden Dome of the Rock appearing prominently across multiple designs as a symbol of the Islamic reconquest of the holy city. أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية في يوليو 1987 للاحتفال بالذكرى المئوية الثامنة لمعركة حطين (1187-1987)، وهي واحدة من أهم الانتصارات العسكرية في التاريخ الإسلامي. خاضت المعركة في الرابع من يوليو عام 1187، حيث انتصرت القوات الإسلامية بقيادة صلاح الدين الأيوبي انتصاراً حاسماً على جيوش الصليبيين، مما أدى إلى استعادة القدس ومعظم الأراضي المقدسة. تضم المجموعة ثلاثة طوابع وبطاقتين تذكاريتين، تعرض جميعها مشاهد نابضة بالحياة لهذا الانتصار التاريخي. تُظهر الطوابع مشاهد معارك ديناميكية مع فرسان يهاجمون، وقبة الصخرة المشرفة التي ترمز إلى تحرير القدس، وصور للقائد العسكري الكردي الأسطوري صلاح الدين نفسه. تؤكد الصور على الأهمية الدينية للنصر، حيث تظهر قبة الصخرة الذهبية بشكل بارز عبر تصاميم متعددة كرمز للفتح الإسلامي للمدينة المقدسة.
