This three-stamp set was issued by the Government of Jordan on September 27, 1980, to commemorate the World Tourism Conference held in Manila, Philippines. The conference represented a significant milestone in international tourism development and cooperation during the early 1980s. Jordan's participation highlighted the kingdom's commitment to promoting tourism as a vital economic sector and showcasing its remarkable archaeological heritage to the world. All three stamps feature the same striking image of El-Deir (The Monastery) in Petra, one of Jordan's most iconic archaeological sites and a masterpiece of Nabataean architecture carved into rose-colored sandstone cliffs. The stamps are distinguished by different colored borders - blue-green for the 25 fils, pale blue for the 40 fils, and claret for the 50 fils denominations. Each stamp displays both Arabic and English text identifying Jordan as 'The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan' and includes a circular emblem, likely representing the tourism conference. By featuring Petra's magnificent monastery, Jordan effectively promoted its UNESCO World Heritage site and demonstrated the country's rich cultural treasures to the international tourism community, emphasizing the kingdom's role as a premier archaeological and cultural destination in the Middle East.
أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة المكونة من ثلاثة طوابع في 27 سبتمبر 1980 للاحتفال بالمؤتمر السياحي العالمي الذي عُقد في مانيلا بالفلبين. مثّل هذا المؤتمر معلماً مهماً في تطوير السياحة الدولية والتعاون في بداية الثمانينيات. أبرزت مشاركة الأردن التزام المملكة بتعزيز السياحة كقطاع اقتصادي حيوي وعرض تراثها الأثري الرائع للعالم. تحمل الطوابع الثلاثة نفس الصورة المذهلة للدير في البتراء، أحد أشهر المواقع الأثرية الأردنية وتحفة من فن العمارة النبطية المنحوتة في الصخر الرملي الوردي. تتميز الطوابع بحدود ملونة مختلفة - أخضر مزرق لفئة 25 فلساً، وأزرق فاتح لفئة 40 فلساً، وأحمر قاتم لفئة 50 فلساً. يعرض كل طابع نصوصاً عربية وإنجليزية تُعرّف بالأردن كـ'المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية' ويتضمن شعاراً دائرياً يمثل على الأرجح المؤتمر السياحي. من خلال إبراز دير البتراء الرائع، روّج الأردن بفعالية لموقعه المدرج في قائمة التراث العالمي وأظهر كنوز المملكة الثقافية الغنية للمجتمع السياحي الدولي.
