Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This definitive set of five stamps was issued by the Government of Jordan on January 18, 1982, featuring King Hussein bin Talal in formal military dress uniform. Each stamp displays the same dignified portrait of the monarch wearing an ornate military jacket with decorative braiding and insignia, set against a flesh-toned background within a colored border frame. The stamps bear the printed date "1981" though they were actually released in 1982, continuing a series of similar portrait definitives that had been issued in 1979 and 1980. The denominations range from 5 to 40 fils, with each value distinguished by a different colored border - green for the 5 fils, purple for the 10 fils, brown for the 20 fils, blue for the 25 fils, and magenta for the 40 fils. All stamps include both Arabic and English text identifying "The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan." These definitives served the country's regular postal needs during the early 1980s, representing the continuing reign of King Hussein who had ruled Jordan since 1953 and would remain on the throne until 1999.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة النهائية المكونة من خمسة طوابع في 18 يناير 1982، وتحمل صورة الملك الحسين بن طلال بالزي العسكري الرسمي. يعرض كل طابع نفس الصورة الكريمة للعاهل وهو يرتدي سترة عسكرية مزخرفة بالقيطان والشارات، على خلفية بلون الجسد ضمن إطار ملون. تحمل الطوابع التاريخ المطبوع "1981" رغم أنها صدرت فعلياً في عام 1982، مواصلة لسلسلة طوابع نهائية مشابهة صدرت في عامي 1979 و1980. تتراوح الفئات من 5 إلى 40 فلساً، وتتميز كل قيمة بلون إطار مختلف - أخضر للـ5 فلوس، بنفسجي للـ10 فلوس، بني للـ20 فلساً، أزرق للـ25 فلساً، ووردي للـ40 فلساً. تتضمن جميع الطوابع نصوصاً باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية تحدد "المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية". خدمت هذه الطوابع النهائية الاحتياجات البريدية العادية للبلاد خلال أوائل الثمانينيات.
