Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set was issued by the Government of Jordan on November 11, 1980, to mark the 15th century of Hijra, the Islamic calendar system that begins with Prophet Muhammad's migration from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE. The set comprises five stamps and one souvenir sheet, all featuring the same distinctive design that symbolizes the connection between the two holiest cities in Islam. Each stamp displays the Prophet's Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi) in Medina with its characteristic green dome and minaret, alongside the sacred Kaaba in Mecca, enclosed within a stylized white teardrop or flame-shaped border. The stamps are differentiated by their background colors - pink, green, blue, purple, and yellow-green - while maintaining the consistent blue band at the bottom containing Arabic calligraphy. This design beautifully represents the spiritual journey and unity of the Islamic faith, commemorating 1,500 years of the Islamic era. أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية في 11 نوفمبر 1980 للاحتفال بالقرن الخامس عشر للهجرة، التقويم الإسلامي الذي يبدأ بهجرة النبي محمد من مكة إلى المدينة عام 622 ميلادية. تضم المجموعة خمسة طوابع وبطاقة تذكارية واحدة، تحمل جميعها نفس التصميم المميز الذي يرمز إلى الصلة بين أقدس مدينتين في الإسلام. يعرض كل طابع المسجد النبوي في المدينة المنورة بقبته الخضراء المميزة ومئذنته، إلى جانب الكعبة المشرفة في مكة، محاطة بإطار أبيض على شكل دمعة أو لهب. تتميز الطوابع بألوان خلفياتها المختلفة - وردي وأخضر وأزرق وبنفسجي وأخضر مصفر - مع الحفاظ على الشريط الأزرق السفلي الذي يحتوي على الخط العربي. يمثل هذا التصميم الرحلة الروحية ووحدة الإيمان الإسلامي، محتفلاً بمرور 1500 عام على العصر الإسلامي.
