Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of three stamps and one souvenir sheet was issued by the Government of Jordan on December 27, 1999, to celebrate the coronation of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. The set marks a pivotal moment in Jordanian history, as King Abdullah II ascended to the throne following the death of his father, King Hussein, in February 1999. Each stamp features an identical formal portrait of the royal couple beneath a red ceremonial canopy topped with the Jordanian crown. King Abdullah II is depicted in white military dress uniform with gold braiding and decorations, while Queen Rania is elegantly dressed in a pale gold or cream-colored formal gown, seated beside him. The stamps are distinguished by their border colors - red for the 100 fils, green for the 200 fils, and blue for the 300 fils denominations. The souvenir sheet presents the same portrait in a gold-bordered format with additional Arabic calligraphy. This issue represents Jordan's philatelic tribute to the new monarchs who would lead the Hashemite Kingdom into the 21st century, emphasizing continuity of the royal lineage and the promise of continued stability and progress under their reign.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية المكونة من ثلاثة طوابع وبطاقة تذكارية واحدة في 27 ديسمبر 1999 احتفالاً بتتويج جلالة الملك عبد الله الثاني وجلالة الملكة رانيا العبد الله. تحتفل هذه المجموعة بلحظة محورية في التاريخ الأردني، حيث اعتلى الملك عبد الله الثاني العرش بعد وفاة والده الملك الحسين في فبراير 1999. يحمل كل طابع صورة رسمية متطابقة للزوجين الملكيين تحت مظلة احتفالية حمراء تعلوها التاج الأردني. يظهر جلالة الملك عبد الله الثاني بالزي العسكري الأبيض مع الأشرطة والأوسمة الذهبية، بينما تظهر جلالة الملكة رانيا بفستان رسمي أنيق ذهبي فاتح أو كريمي اللون وهي جالسة بجانبه. تتميز الطوابع بألوان حوافها - الأحمر لفئة 100 فلس، والأخضر لفئة 200 فلس، والأزرق لفئة 300 فلس. تقدم البطاقة التذكارية نفس الصورة بإطار ذهبي مع خط عربي إضافي. يمثل هذا الإصدار تكريم الأردن الطوابعي للعاهلين الجديدين اللذين سيقودان المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية إلى القرن الحادي والعشرين.
