أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية المؤلفة من أربعة طوابع في يوليو 1996 احتفالاً بدورة الألعاب الأولمبية السادسة والعشرين التي أقيمت في أتلانتا، جورجيا، الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية. شكلت أولمبياد أتلانتا، التي جرت من 19 يوليو إلى 3 أغسطس 1996، احتفالاً بالذكرى المئوية للألعاب الأولمبية الحديثة. دفعت مشاركة الأردن في هذه الألعاب وزارة البريد والاتصالات لإصدار هذه التحية الملونة التي تضم شعار أولمبياد أتلانتا 1996 الرسمي ورموز مختلف الرياضات الأولمبية. يعرض كل طابع في المجموعة شعار ألعاب أتلانتا المميز إلى جانب الحلقات الأولمبية وتمثيلات مبسطة لمختلف التخصصات الرياضية. تحمل الطوابع أيضاً العلم الأردني بشكل بارز، رمزاً لمشاركة المملكة الفخورة في هذا الاحتفال الأولمبي التاريخي.
