Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of three stamps issued by the Government of Jordan in 1990 marks the 70th anniversary of Prince Abdullah I's historic arrival in Ma'an in 1920. This pivotal moment in Jordanian history occurred when the future king arrived from the Hijaz to establish what would become the Emirate of Transjordan under British mandate. The stamps feature evocative desert scenes with mounted horsemen carrying flags, traditional Middle Eastern architecture, and portraits of King Abdullah I, capturing the spirit of the Arab nationalist movement and the founding of modern Jordan. The 40 and 60 fils stamps share similar imagery of silhouetted riders against a desert landscape with a stone building, while the 200 fils stamp presents a more detailed composition featuring King Abdullah I's portrait alongside the Jordanian flag and horsemen. This issue celebrates one of the most significant dates in Jordan's modern history, when Prince Abdullah's arrival in the ancient caravan city of Ma'an set in motion the events that would lead to Jordanian independence and the establishment of the Hashemite Kingdom.

تحتفل هذه المجموعة التذكارية المؤلفة من ثلاثة طوابع والتي أصدرتها الحكومة الأردنية عام ١٩٩٠ بالذكرى السبعين لوصول الأمير عبدالله الأول التاريخي إلى معان عام ١٩٢٠. تمثل هذه اللحظة المحورية في التاريخ الأردني وصول الملك المستقبلي من الحجاز لتأسيس ما سيصبح إمارة شرق الأردن تحت الانتداب البريطاني. تعرض الطوابع مشاهد صحراوية مؤثرة مع فرسان يحملون الأعلام، والعمارة الشرق أوسطية التقليدية، وصور الملك عبدالله الأول، مما يجسد روح الحركة القومية العربية وتأسيس الأردن الحديث. يتشارك طابعا الأربعين والستين فلساً صوراً متشابهة لفرسان ظلليين على خلفية المشهد الصحراوي مع مبنى حجري، بينما يقدم طابع المائتي فلس تركيباً أكثر تفصيلاً يضم صورة الملك عبدالله الأول إلى جانب العلم الأردني والفرسان.
