Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set of four stamps and one souvenir sheet was issued by the Government of Jordan on November 14, 1993, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of King Hussein's assumption of constitutional powers. King Hussein bin Talal (1935-1999) officially assumed his constitutional powers on May 2, 1953, at age 17, after a regency period following his accession to the throne in 1952. The stamps showcase different aspects of the beloved monarch's life and reign, portraying him in various official capacities. The first stamp depicts King Hussein in military uniform with decorations, reflecting his role as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The second shows him in traditional Bedouin dress, emphasizing his connection to Jordan's tribal heritage. The third presents him in formal civilian attire, while the fourth and souvenir sheet feature King Hussein alongside Queen Noor al-Hussein, whom he married in 1978. This issue honors four decades of King Hussein's leadership during a transformative period in Jordan's modern history, celebrating his dedication to constitutional monarchy and national development.

أصدرت الحكومة الأردنية هذه المجموعة التذكارية المؤلفة من أربعة طوابع وبطاقة تذكارية واحدة في 14 نوفمبر 1993، احتفالاً بالذكرى الأربعين لتولي جلالة الملك الحسين سلطاته الدستورية. تولى الملك الحسين بن طلال (1935-1999) سلطاته الدستورية رسمياً في 2 مايو 1953 وهو في السابعة عشرة من عمره، بعد فترة وصاية أعقبت اعتلاءه العرش عام 1952. تعرض الطوابع جوانب مختلفة من حياة الملك المحبوب وعهده، حيث تصوره في مناصبه الرسمية المتنوعة. يُظهر الطابع الأول الملك الحسين بالزي العسكري مع الأوسمة، معكساً دوره كقائد أعلى للقوات المسلحة. يعرض الثاني جلالته بالزي البدوي التقليدي، مؤكداً ارتباطه بالتراث القبلي الأردني. يقدم الثالث جلالته بالزي المدني الرسمي، بينما يضم الرابع والبطاقة التذكارية الملك الحسين إلى جانب الملكة نور الحسين التي تزوجها عام 1978.
