Stamps of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

This commemorative set celebrates the establishment of the SOS Children's Village in Irbid, Jordan. The SOS villages society was first established in Spring 1984 to provide shelter for Jordanian orphaned and destitute children, offering them family life, compassion and affection until they reach maturity. The society aims at enhancing the psychological development and social affiliation based on sound principles, starting with the permanent family home and ending with Youth Houses where residents receive education and training to help them become independent and self-relying. The SOS village in Irbid was initiated by the society in September 1998 and was officially inaugurated in November 1999. The set features Jordan's national symbols alongside the SOS emblem, and depicts the caring relationship between caregivers and children in the village, highlighting Jordan's commitment to child welfare and social development.

تحتفل هذه المجموعة التذكارية بإنشاء قرية الأطفال في إربد الأردنية. تأسست جمعية قرى الأطفال في ربيع عام 1984 لتوفر المأوى للأطفال الأيتام والمحرومين الأردنيين وتقدم لهم الحياة العائلية الدافئة والعطف والحنان حتى بلوغهم سن الرشد. تهدف الجمعية إلى تحقيق النمو النفسي والانتماء الذي يجد فيه أما ترعاه وأخوات يعيشون معه في بيت واحد، وتنتهي في بيوت الشباب التي تؤهلهم للانتقال إلى حياة الاستقلالية والاعتماد على النفس. بدأت قرية الأطفال في إربد في سبتمبر 1998 وتم افتتاحها رسمياً في نوفمبر 1999. تعرض المجموعة الرموز الوطنية الأردنية مع شعار المنظمة وتصور العلاقة الرعوية بين المربيات والأطفال في القرية.
