This definitive stamp set featuring Hadrian's Arch in Jerash was issued by the Government of Jordan through its Ministry of Post & Communications on January 1, 1998. The four stamps showcase one of Jordan's most iconic Roman monuments - the triumphal arch of Emperor Hadrian, built in 129-130 AD to commemorate the emperor's visit to the ancient city of Gerasa (modern-day Jerash). Each stamp displays the same architectural subject in different color schemes, with denominations of 50 fils, 400 fils, 500 fils, and 1 dinar. The design bears the date 1997/1418 AH, though the stamps were issued in 1998. As definitives, these stamps served regular postal needs while promoting Jordan's rich Roman heritage. Jerash, often called the 'Pompeii of the East,' contains some of the best-preserved Roman ruins outside Italy, and this arch serves as the grand entrance to the archaeological site. صدرت هذه المجموعة من طوابع الخدمة العادية التي تعرض قوس هادريان في جرش عن الحكومة الأردنية من خلال وزارة البريد والاتصالات في الأول من كانون الثاني 1998. تعرض الطوابع الأربعة واحداً من أشهر المعالم الرومانية في الأردن - قوس النصر للإمبراطور هادريان، الذي بُني في عامي 129-130 ميلادية لإحياء ذكرى زيارة الإمبراطور لمدينة جراسا القديمة (جرش الحالية). يعرض كل طابع نفس الموضوع المعماري بألوان مختلفة، بفئات 50 فلساً و400 فلس و500 فلس وديناراً واحداً. يحمل التصميم تاريخ 1997/1418 هجرية، رغم أن الطوابع صدرت في 1998. كطوابع خدمة عادية، خدمت هذه الطوابع الاحتياجات البريدية العادية بينما روجت للتراث الروماني الغني في الأردن. جرش، التي تُسمى غالباً 'بومبي الشرق'، تحتوي على بعض أفضل الآثار الرومانية المحفوظة خارج إيطاليا، ويُعتبر هذا القوس المدخل الرئيسي للموقع الأثري.
